A course for learners who want to progress to employment in a range of Engineering disciplines. Progress could be either directly to employment or via higher-education Engineering courses. Equivalent in size to three International A Levels.
The WIS Engineering Pathway was introduced in 2019 in response to student demands for an applied course that will lead to further study in Engineering. We have world class facilities within the Faculty including some of the very latest technology and equipment.
The teaching team is made up of subject specialists in their related fields including Electronics, Micro Controllers, Calculus, Further Mathematics, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing. We have curated a range of Units to make up the BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering that will best prepare a learner for courses in a variety of disciplines.
The BTEC qualification will take up the majority of a students timetable however we encourage learners to supplement the course with an additional one or two IB Courses (typically Mathematics AA and Physics). The Engineering department has developed the content of the new BTEC International Level 3 qualifications in collaboration with employers (Techtronic Industries TTI) and representatives from higher education. Our approach provides rigour and balance, and promotes the ability to apply learning immediately in new contexts.
