Theatre is both a dynamic, collaborative and live art form. Learning in this discipline is a journey fired by passion, informed by experience and realised through holistic understanding. As part of the core syllabus students will be expected to explore the role of Director, Designer, Actor and Spectator.
At the core of the theatre course lays a concern with clarity of understanding, critical thinking, reflective analysis, effective involvement and imaginative synthesis – all of which should be achieved through practical engagement in theatre.
Practical involvement with theatre demands discipline, creativity and a wide range of skills. It encompasses the taking of risks, the building of confidence and encourages discovery. IB Theatre is a multifaceted course; it offers opportunity to engage actively in the creative process, transforming ideas into action as inquisitive and productive artists. The course emphasises the importance of working both individually and collaboratively as part of an ensemble.

Internationalism will be at the heart of the programme with you exploring and engaging with theatre forms from across world cultures as well as understanding how these relate to the western canon of theatre arts. We are geographically placed to draw upon a multiplicity of Asian theatre forms and ‘living resources’ and you are expected to do so. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in theatre, a hunger to explore culture creativity and the willingness to experiment with individual and group work.
